Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for a pivotal role in a busy, fast-paced logistics environment?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established 3PL business based in Reading, responsible for the smooth overnight planning of 24 vehicles. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team ensuring the night shift runs like clockwork, feeding into a high-volume operation.
The Role
As Transport Planner, you’ll manage routing and planning across a mixed fleet ofvans, rigids, and artics, using Nexus software. Working independently from 7pm onwards, you’ll plan routes for the following day and support the evening transport and warehouse operation to meet tight service levels and pallet deadlines.
This role is well-suited to someone who thrives under pressure, understands how to get the most from a mixed fleet, and wants to progress into a management role over time.

45,000 sq ft ambient warehouse (no chill or freezer work)
No loading docks – all curtain-side floor loading
100+ pallets moved per night – high-speed, high-volume

Key Responsibilities
Plan and route vehicle deliveries using Nexus TMS
Build effective multi-drop schedules across southern-based postcodes
Monitor driver working hours and compliance with WTD regulations
Maximise load efficiency, trailer utilisation and route productivity
Support the warehouse team with coordination and live problem-solving
Minimise sub-contracting and identify opportunities for return loads
Maintain transport schedules, driver logs and route documentation
Ensure smooth overnight operation for day shift handover
Essential:
Proven experience in multi-drop transport planning
Experience using route planning software (e.g. Nexus, Paragon, Mandata)
Excellent geographical knowledge
Confident working independently and making real-time decisions
Strong Excel and general IT skills
Desire to progress into a more senior/management role
Desirable:
Background in a pallet network or 3PL transport operation
Working knowledge of HGV routing and compliance (rigids and artics)
CPC Qualification (not essential)
What’s on offer:
£35,000–£40,000 per annum (DOE)
Full-time permanent position
Monday to Friday, 3pm–11pm
